Indian school hockey team had a staggering tournament as they emerged as the champion in 5th edition of Asian School Hockey Championship with a creditable 5-1 win over Malaysia in the final.
India remained unbeaten in the whole championship by winning all the matches in group stages as well as lifting the trophy. India was placed alongside Nepal, Singapore and Thailand in group B enjoyed a clean sweep in group stages.

- India kick-started their journey by thrashing Nepal 24-0! Yes, you read it right. India won the next match in same fashion, scoring 13 and conceded none after full-time.
- Thailand were lucky enough to score a goal against India, which too went in vain as India registered yet another win scoring 17 and conceding 1.
- India was drawn against China in Semis who had no guarantee of winning against India. They too became a victim of India’s brutality as the blue tigers sailed into finals with a score of 11-0.
- The stage was set for the finals and it was Azlan shah trophy hosts who faced India in finals. Malaysia become only the 2nd team to score against India, they only had the pride as India won the Championship beating them 5-1.
In the match for third and fourth place, Singapore beat China 3-1 in a nail-biting shootout after the two teams ended the regulation time in a 1-1 stalemate of Asian School Boys U-18 Hockey Championship.
