Indian Compound Team comprises of Abhishek Verma, Chinna Raju & Amanjeet Singh assured India at least a Silver by reaching the finals of Men’s Compound Team Finals at Archery World Cup Stage-1, Shanghai.
In semis, India was up against top ranked U.S.A & the trio did well to hold their nerves to beat U.S.A by 232-230 in a closely fought match.
Both the teams were locked at 59-59 in the first set, but it was U.S.A who took the lead of one point in the second set by 117-116. India trio bounced back in the third set quite incredibly by scoring perfect 60 points out of 60 & took the crucial lead of 2 points by 176-174.
2 points lead was enough for Indian team as they sealed the match by scoring 56 points in the last set to book their seats into finals by defeating U.S.A ( 232-230).
U.S.A topped the qualifications by scoring 2116 points in total, while India was placed 4th in qualifications after scoring 2097 points in total.
India will take on Columbia for the “Gold-medal” match on Saturday. Columbia got the better of France by 231-229.
