Premier League side Arsenal is all set to place a mega £40 million deal for German international Julian Draxler by the player’s current club Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Mirror, Arsenal will make a bid for German attacker when the winter transfer window opens in January.
Draxler has been a long-standing target of Wenger over the years, with the London club keeping tabs on the German since his Werder Bremen days.
The 24-year-old was linked with the London based club even during his days at Schalke. However, the German ended up moving to Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg in 2015.
In January 2017, he had to go through another transfer and this time he went to French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain. With Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani making the front three position, his ambition of making the staring lineup have taken a hit.
PSG are desperate to beat Manchester City to Alexis Sanchez and see January as the ideal time to hijack Pep Guardiola’s move.
Sanchez wants a move to Etihad but Arsenal may force a switch elsewhere by accepting bids in January.
Arsenal are thought to be open to offers upwards of £35million and are edging towards cashing in on Sanchez rather than keeping him until the summer and losing him on a free.
Paris Saint-Germain will demand an amount of £40 million from Arsenal if the Gunners want to land their long-term target Draxler if the report from Mirror is to be believed. The deal would see the former Wolfsburg player become Arsenal’s fourth most expensive signing.
With Sanchez & Ozil expected to move out of Arsenal, Draxler sounds a perfect substitute for the Gunners.
