Divya Dhayal is proving out to be the archer to see for future events as she will look for “Triple Gold” in Asia Archery Cup at Chinese Taipei.
While Three medals are already assured for India, archers will look to grab four medals too in Bronze-medal playoff to be played on Saturday & Sunday.
Women Compound Team
No.1 seeded Indian Women Compound Team who got a BYE in the first round, got lucky as they defeat 4th seeded Malaysia in a close encounter by 215-214, thanks to the last arrow missed by Malaysian Archer.
Clearly, Malaysia had a massive lead against India after the first set by 59-50, Indian women bounced back & decrease the lead by 106-111 but couldn’t hold their nerves & again pushed down to 159-167 after the third set.
India surely would have lost as Malaysia needed just 2 points to win the semis from the last arrow but then a miracle happened & one of the Malaysian archer missed the target which turned out to be 0 points & India grabbed the spot in the finals.
Indian team will be up against no.2 seeded Chinese Taipei who stunned Iran with a big margin of 230-223.
Men Compound Team
Indian team lost the semis by no.1 seed Chinese Taipei by 231-233 & will have to play for Bronze medal now. India defeated no. 4 seeded Australia comfortably in quarters by 233-228 but couldn’t hold their nerves in the semis.
The team will take on 6th seeded Thailand in the Bronze-medal Playoff.
Women Recurve Team
Indian women Recurve team lost their semis from no.1 seed Chinese Taipei in a very close encounter. Both the teams were deadlocked at 4-4 & the things went on to shoot off where India couldn’t hold their nerves & lost the SO by 25-28.
India will take on 3th seed Malaysia for the Bronze medal.
Men Recurve Team
It was a bad outing for Indian Men recurve team as they lost their quarter-finals match to 5th seeded Malaysia in a Shoot-off after both teams were tied at 4-4. Indian team scored 27 in SO while Malaysia book their spot in semis with 28 points.
India will have two Gold Match matches lined up for tomorrow in Women’s Compound Individual & Mixed Compound Team.
