India’s top cueist Pankaj Advani had to settle for silver after losing to China’s Lv Haotian in the final summit clash of Asian Snooker Championship.
With this final defeat, Pankaj Advani missed the opportunity to become the first player to win the Asian double of billiards and snooker titles in the same calender year. As, earlier he won the Asian Billiards Championship this year.
Having won all the major events — Nationals, Asian and World Championships in both Billiards and Snooker and in both the long and short formats, this is the one title (15-red Asian Snooker) that has eluded Advani.
The first frame got underway with the win of Chinese player, Advani bounced back to drew the things & this was the only time both players were at level as Haotin got a momentum to keep aside the Sixteen time World Champion by scoring big.
Trailing at 1-3, Advani gave himself a chance to get back in the match with two well-crafted breaks. But he was yet again kept away by Haotin who won the next two frames narrowly to clinch the Asian snooker title.
Advani lost 3-6, (32-95(65), 75(58)-31, 43-69, 24-65(57), 78-0, 6-102(102), 61-48, 48-59, 69-71.)
This is the first Silver of this season for the Golden Boy as he has won all the Gold medals this year in which he has participated — National Championships of Billiards, 6-red Snooker and 15-red Snooker, as well as the Asian Billiards Championship
