PV Sindhu clinched her second consecutive win by defeating Sayaka Sato of Japan to book her spot in the semis of BWF Dubai Superseries Finals for the second time in a row (2016 & 2017) .
Even though Sindhu still has a match left in Group A against another Japanese player Akane Yamaguchi but it will be a dead rubber as both of the players are guaranteed of the Top 4 spot of BWF Dubai Finals 2017.
Olympic silver medalist Sindhu who defeated World no.9 He Bingjiao yesterday, looked in stunning form as she had no issues whatsoever in wrapping up the match in straight sets 21-13, 21-12 that lasted just for 36 minutes.
In men’s singles, it was again a bad day for Indian shuttler & World no.4 kidambi Srikanth as he crashed out from thesemi-final contention of BWF Dubai Finals 2017 after losing his second consecutive match to World No 7 Taiwanese n straight sets 18-21, 18-21.
However, Sindhu is looking strong in the tournament but Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi would be a threat for her & the match between them will decide the topper of Group A.
World no.3 Sindhu started the proceedings with a bang & were in commanding position from the start, she got a comfortable lead of 11-8 in the break & carried her momentum to win the first game by 21-13.
Second game had the same story as the Indian dominated the lower ranked Japanese & grabbed a 5 points advantage by 11-6 during the break. She looked pretty much unstoppable and there was not much that Sato could do to disrupt her rhythm.
Sindhu took five points in a flash to enhance her lead by 19-7 & sealed the match to her name by 21-13, 21-12.
She hardly had any challenge today but her third round robin match of BWF Dubai Finals 2017 against Yamaguchi can prove an interesting rubber to watch.
The last group matches of the tournament will be played tomorrow.
