With his second consecutive loss in the tournament, kidambi Srikanth crash out from the contention of semis of BWF Dubai Finals 2017 on Thursday.
Even though Srikanth still has a match left in Group B, but he has possibly no chance of making to the semi-finals.
Srikanth, who suffered a defeat to World. No 1 and defending champion Viktor Axelsen in his first match of BWF Dubai Finals 2017, failed to improve & lost his second consecutive match to World No 7 Taiwan in straight sets 18-21, 18-21.
Chou took just 43 minutes to stun World no. 4 Kidambi in a Group B men’s singles match.
Shi Yuqi, who had defeated Chou in his opening match on Wednesday, out a 13-21, 21-18, 21-17 win over Axelsen on Thursday & currently is on top of the group B.
The in-form Shi Yuqi take on Indian shuttler on Friday, but it will be a somewhat dead rubber as even if Indian clinched a win, he will not be able to make the cut.
The winner of the match between Axelsen and Chou will advance to the knockouts stage of BWF Dubai Finals 2017 as the second player from Group B after Shi Yuqi.
Srikanth on Thursday failed to bring out his top game again as he lagged behind from the very beginning.
Chou Tein started the proceedings on high note & take the initial 5-0 lead over Srikanth. He further carried his momentum & took the first set by 21-18.
Although he put up a better performance in the second game, Srikanth could not kept himself calm till the end & despite leading 17-14 at one stage, Srikanth let his Taiwanese opponent gain three straight points to catch him at 17-17.
It was all Chou show after that & three straight points sealed the match for him by 21-18, 21-18.
Srikanth will face All England Open finalist Shi Yuqi of China on Friday in his last and final match of Group B of BWF Dubai World Superseries Finals.
