Despite having a tough week at Dubai Superseries Final 2017, India’s number one male shuttler Kidambi Srikanth jumped one spot to World No. 3 in the latest world rankings released by Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Thursday, December 21, 2017.
Kidambi has surpass the reigning Olympic Champion Chen Long who withdrew from the BWF Finals 2017 right before the tournament commenced.
The 24-year-old had a very tough tournament as he couldn’t move ahead of the group stage in the season finale. Kidambi lost all three matches & finished last in his group.
Apart from Srikanth, Singapore Open winner B Sai Praneeth too climbed a place to be 16th in BWF Rankings. HS Prannoy had no change to his rankings & continues to be World no.10.

Olympic Silver medalist who had a great tournament last week, maintains her World No. 3 ranking. Saina Nehwal too continues to be in “Top 10”.
Former national champion Rituparna Das is 52nd, Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli is 58th. Tata Open champion Ruthvika Shivani Gadde, who won a round at the Italian International last week, jumped nine places to 80th.
Young Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty continues to be on 31st position followed by another Indian pair & National Champions Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy at 32nd spot.
Indian women doubles specialist Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy are 28th in BWF Rankings.
The mixed doubles pair of Reddy and Pranaav Jerry Chopra continues to be on 18th while the duo of Rankireddy and Ponnappa has dropped to 72nd.
