After finishing last in the 2016-2017 season, Otago will look to overcome the past & give a better performance in this season but leaping from last back to the finals, where they were in the 2015-16 season, will take a lot of work.

The squad is not so experienced & will make it difficult to overcame the stiff challenge of other teams fighting for the title. Seamer Warren Barnes who was out from 2015 due to injury is all set to make a comeback & will prove a lethal weapon for the team.

All-rounder Jimmy Neesham has been freed by the Black Caps selectors to play in the  domestic cricket & is all set to makea mark in the tournament.

Anaru kitchen, Rob Nicol (C), Hamish Rutherford & Neil Broom can make a big impact & also have the ability to upset any major team.

Rob Nicol (C), Jimmy Neesham, Hamish Rutherford, Neil Broom, Matthew Bacon, Warren Barnes, Derek de Boorder, Jacob Duffy, Josh Finnie, Jack Hunter, Anaru kitchen, Brad Wilson

With England T20 specialist & all-rounder Ben Stokes in their pocket, Canterburry will be one of the favorites coming to the tournament.

Michael Pollard appears to be their best run-scoring hope, with their three best cricketers from last season either retired – Peter Fulton – or with the Black Caps – Henry Nicholls & Tom Latham. All-rounder Andrew Ellis is all set to return from an injury and will give the team a boost.

Bowling department also have been hit hard by injuries in the early stages of the season, as their two promosing young talents are out – Ken McClure, who stood himself down after pleading guilty to an assault charge earlier this month, and Leo Carter, who has travelled to England for personal reasons.

Squad to face Otago (12 players) :

Andrew Ellis(C), Ben Stokes, Todd Astle, Jeremy Benton, Chad Bowes, Cam Fletcher, Matt Henry, Tim Johnston, Nick Kwant, Cole Mcconchie, ED Nuttall, Micheal Pollard.

Key Players to watch –

All-rounder Ben stokes will remain the hot pick for sure but looking at his recent form, he hasn’t delivered for Canterbury in his three one-day matches so far.

All-rounders Todd Astle & Andrew Ellis will prove vital for the team while bowlers like Matt Henry & ED Nuttall will give an extra edge to the team.
