Indian gymnast Rakesh Patra give something to enjoy for gymnastics fans after qualifying for rings apparatus finals in the men’s artistic gymnastics competition of Commonwealth Games 2018, Gold Coast, Australia.
Patra, who recently finished fourth at the World Cup in Melbourne, participated in only two team events and scored 13.950 in the rings and 13.350 on the parallel bars.
However, despite his decent performances in both events, he only qualified for the final of the rings in fifth place behind Courtney Tulloch (15.200), Niles Wilson (14.750), Renee Cournoyer (14.200) and Scott Morgan (14.200). Devy Dyson (13.825) Marios Georgiou (13.750) and Ilias Georgiou (13.350) also qualified for the final that will be held on Sunday.
A score of 13.950 is short of his best Commonwealth Games mark, where he scored 14.266 in the team all around event, but despite his best performance he was not able to clear the cut during Delhi Commonwealth Games.
If Patra really wants a podium finish in Gold Coast, he must have to improve on his personal best as at Glasgow, the bronze medal went to Daniel Purvis at a score of 14.700.
