
After a great action of day 2, Australia has made a huge gap from the other nations to stand tall in the medal tally of Commonwealth games 2018, Gold Coast, Australia.
Swimming has played a huge role in Australia’s dominance in the Commonwealth Games and it could be easily seen in women’s 100m Butterfly event where Australia clean sweep with Emma Mckeon winning the Gold, Madeline Groves taking the Silver and Brianna Throssell grabbing the bronze medal.
Australia’s Tia-Clair Toomey won a rare Gold medal for Australia in women’s weightlifting event, where so far India has dominated in the CWG 2018. India has won 2 Gold medals out of 3 in the women’s weightlifting event so far.
England, who were on the top of medal tally on Day 1 after winning six gold medals, could only add three more on Day 2. Gymnastics continue to play a significant role for the British team.
Meanwhile, Australia lead the tally with total 36 medals (14 Gold, 9 Silver & 13 Bronze), followed by England with 18 medals (9 Gold, 6 Silver & 3 Bronze). Canada is at the 3rd position with 2 Gold, 4 Silver & 5 Bronze followed by Scotland, India, South-Africa and Malaysia with two gold medals each.
On Thursday, India was able to clinch 2 medals with Sanjita Chanu winning the Gold with a new Games Record while young 18-year old Deepak Lather grabbing the bronze medal for the country in men’s 69kg category.
