CWG 2018 Wrestling: Sushil kumar storms into the final of 74kg category

Double Olympic medalist and Commonwealth Champion Sushil kumar wrestles his way to storm into the fnals of 74kg category of Commonwealth Games, Australia. 

Defending Champion Sushil started off his campaign with a easy win by technical superiority (11-0) over Canada’s Jevon Balfour to qualify for the quarter-finals.

The star wrestler took on Pakistan’s Muhammad Asad Butt in the 1/4 finals and totally overpowered his opponent for a place in semis, he scored six points in the first round and four in the second to win on technical superiority(10-0).

Bouts are awarded on the basis of technical superiority when one wrestler takes a lead of 10 or more points.

Later on, he routed Australia’s Connor Evans by fall to ensure himself a medal with a place in the Men’s 74kg Freestyle final, where the Indian legend will take on South Africa’s Johannes Botha, which is scheduled to be happen later today.

Sushil kumar, who missed the Rio Olympics, didn’t had a ideal build-up to the Commonwealth games 2018 too as he dragged himself to a controversy, when his supporters and those of his rival Parveen Rana came to blows during the trials.

Still, he managed to be focused on the mat and ensured India another medal in CWG 2018.

Other wrestlers, made a winning start too as Rahul Aware  and Babita kumari will fight for the gold too while kiran in women’s 76kg will be up against Katouskia Pariadhaven for a bronze medal.
