India finish on the top of the medals tally for the very first time in an International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) competition, after finishing the World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun stage with four gold, one silver and four bronze for a total of nine medals.
Indian young guns like Shahzar Rizvi, Manu Bhaker, Akhil Sheoran, Om Prakash Mitharval, Anjum Moudgil and Mehuli Ghosh put brilliant performance apart from facile performances from senior stars like Jitu Rai, Ravi Kumar and even Sanjeev Rajput, for that matter who did not win a medal but shot very well to just miss out and finish fourth.
16-year-old Manu Bhaker won two Gold on her senior World Cup debut and finish 5th in 3rd final.16-year-old had won the women’s 10m air pistol individual gold while Manu won her second gold medals, partnering Om Prakash Mitharval to clinch the 10m air pistol mixed team title.
17-year-old Shooting star Mehuli Ghosh also finish with 2 medals, both Bronze. Mehili won women’s 10m air rifle and mixed team event bronze. Mehuli Ghosh, after returning to India, said she would give her all to win a medal at the upcoming Commonwealth Games. Mehuli equal junior world cup qualification record with 629.4 points.
Akhil Sheoran Who was playing his first 50m 3 Position world cup and Shahzar Rizvi add 2 more Gold to Indian Telly. Shahzar won first world cup medal with final World cup Record.
Anjum Moudgil won her first ISSF World Cup medal – silver in the Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event while Jitu RAI and Ravi Kumar make it 9 medals for India. Jitu Rai multiple time world cup winner Jitu Rai won Bronze in 10m pistol event while Ravi Kumar beat other Indian Deepak Kumar in Bronze medal Shoot-Off.
