Indian Football Team has started their campaign in the Tri-Series with a 2-1 win over lower ranked Mauritius.
Indian Captain and legend Sunil Chhetri was missing the game due to Bengaluru FC's AFC Cup commitment & it was Sandesh Jinghan who lead the team in absence of Sunil.
It was a complete shock to the hosts after World ranked 160 Mauritius drew the first blood, thanks to a deflected effort from Louis Marco Dorza who put his team into the lead by 1-0. India allowed the space for Mauritius to take advantage and they were punished with a deflected goal.
Robin Singh equalise the things for India just before the half time after his slot sneak through the Mauritius Goal Keeper & provided much needed Goal for India.
Both the teams were deadlocked at 1-1 during the half time.
India do cameback strongly after the half time & the debutante Balwant Singh gave India the lead with a slightly scuffed shot to make the things 2-1 in favour of Blue Tigers.
There was more pressure from the Indian team but no one was able to found the net, looking at the form & rankings easy win was predicted for Indian team but the performance will raise some questions for Stephen Constantine-coached India.
With this win, India have won 14 of their last 16 international games.
