Indian Men’s Hockey team finally had their revenge over World 5th ranked Belgium as they defeat them by 3-2 in the 3 team invitational tournament.
This a big result for India as they go past Belgium in a nail-biter contest ! This win will surely boost the Indian camp before the big Hockey World League Semi-finals to be held in London from June 15- 25th , 2017.
India had to face defeat from Belgium in their first match of the invitational tournament by 1-2 & this time too it was Belgium who drew the first blood by scoring in the very first quarter of the game & took the lead by 1-0.
The second quarter was quite dull with both teams making chances but not capitalising on it !
At Half Time of the game Belgium lead India by 1-0.
In the third quarter, Harmanpreet Singh makes no mistake in converting a goal from the Penalty corner & level the things for India by 1-1.
Just a couple of minutes later India win one more penalty corner & it was Harmanpreet Singh again who strikes for the second time & puts India in the lead for the first time of the match by 2-1.
But in the dying moments of Quarter 3, Belgium was able to pull one back & level the things at 2-2 to go for the final quarter of the game.
After a thunderous Quarter 3, India started off well again & it was Ramandeep now who scored the 3rd goal for India by a field goal & puts India back into the lead by 3-2. As India team has a habit to concede goals at last minutes, the match got more intense but this time Men in Blue were able to back their lead & won the match by 3-2.
Earlier, Indian team settled for draw against World No.3 Germany by 2-2 where Mandeep Singh (45) and Sardar Singh (45′) scored back-to-back goals.
India will now take on Germany again tomorrow & it will be the last match for India before the Hockey World League Semi-finals .
