Indian pair end runners-up at ATP Challenger, goes down fighting in Final

Yuki Bhambri and Divij Sharan had to be content with a runners-up finish at the Tashkent Challenger event after a 4-6 2-6 defeat against the second seeded pair of Hans Podlipnik-Castillo and Andrei Vasilevski.

It was second final of the season for the left-handed Sharan on the Challenger Tour, having won the title at Bordeaux, France with Purav Raja.

Sharan has consistently made the semifinals of the ATP 250 events and had ended runner-up at the season-opening Chennai Open with Raja.


For Yuki it was his first doubles final of the 2017 season in seven tournaments.

Yuki and Sharan earned 75 points each and split $5400 as team while the winners pocketed 125 ATP points each and shared $9300 as prize money.

Yuki Bhambri is a professional tennis player from India. He is a former junior no. 1 and winner of the 2009 Australian open juniors.He is the first Indian to win the junior Australian Open title and fourth Indian in history to capture a junior singles title at a Grand Slam championship.

Divij Sharan is an Indian professional tennis player. He specialises in doubles and competes on the ATP  tour.
