ISSF World Cup 2018 Mexico : Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun

Everything is set in Guadalajara (MEX) for the first stage of the 2018 ISSF World Cup Series, which will take place from the 1st to the 12th of March. The competition will see 404 shooters compete in the three disciplines – Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun – representing 50 National Olympic Committees and piling up 594 starts.It will be the twelfth ISSF World Cup stage held in Mexico after the seven hosted by Mexico City from 1986 to 1992, and the four held in Acapulco in 2010, 2013, 2015 and 2017.

The first competition of the season will kick off on March 1st in Guadalajara, opening the 2018 shooting sports season and delivering the first 15 gold medals of the season in the three disciplines. 33 Shooter from India will take part in all 15 events, 3 in each event resulting 30 shooters. 3 additional shooters will take part is MSQ category (which did not give medals).

Key Event

  • India make a Brilliant start at first world cup of 2018 as all 6 shooters enter Final in their event.Shahzad Rizvi(2nd), Jitu Rai(3rd) and Omprakash (4th) make to the final of 10m Air Pistol. While Mehuli Ghosh (2), Apurvi Chandela (6) and Anjum Moudgil (7) make day batter after they advance to Final of 10m Air Rifle Event.Tinjit DHANOTA also shoot brilliant 580 in MQS which was equal to top score in the qualification of air Pistol.17-year-old Mehuli was playing her first senior world cup event, but shoot a brilliant 629.4 which equal the world junior record for qualification.
  • In final of 10m Pistol Rizvi make a brilliant star, he was on top for the most time while Jitu Rai did not make a good start but he shows his experience in time and survive examination. Omprakash starts on a good not but could not maintain his run and finish 4th. It was jitu elimination next who finish with Bronze medal. But the star of the night for India was Rizvi who won his first senior Gold with final World Record
  • Young Mehuli won India 3rd medal of the night as she finishes 3rd on her very first senior world cup match ahead of two experience shooter Anjum Moudgil who miss the medal by decimal score and Olympian Apurvi Chandela who finish 7th in final
  • 16-year-old new Shooting Sensation of India Manu Bhaker beg Gold Medal in first Senior World Cup of her Carrier. She will represent India in upcoming Youth Olympics. The way she handles pressure in last few shot of 10m Pistol final was brilliant. she was trailing by 1.4 points before last shot but she came with a brilliant 10.6 and won Gold medal. 2016 Olympics Bronze medallist was also there in the final line up. Her 2nd Gold medal come With Omprakash in 10m Air Pistol Mix team event
  • Ravi Kumar won bronze of 10m Air Rifle event where he beat other India Deepak Kumar in Shoot-off. Whereas Deepak Kumar and 16-year Old Mehuli Ghosh Won Air Rifle Mix team Bronze medal ahead of Ravi Kumar and Apurvi Chandela who finish 4th.
  • Aurvi Chandela Won Silver Medal in 50m 3 position event, she finishes 2nd in qualification with brilliant 1170 points. her Good form continue in final, she was on the lead for the 4 series but lost her lead in standing and slip to 4th position but in end, she comes up with some good and clinches Silver for India, It was first silver for India after 7 medals
  • Akhil Sheron Won 4th Gold for India, as he tops 50m Rifle 3 Position final. early all three Indian Sanjeev Rajpoot (2nd), Akhil (4th) and Swapnil (7th) qualify for FInal. Like Apurvi experience Sanjeev Rajpoot was on top after Kneeling and prone Series but in Standing he shoot 8 and 9 and lost his 4 point lead and end up with 4th place. while Akhil who was 3rd-4th most of time, shoot very well in standing and won gold with over 3 point lead over Silver Medalist
  • India End on top of the medal table with 9 medals at Issf World cup: Mexico, all 9 medal come from Rifle and pistol.In Shotgun where India won Most medal last year, here end without a single medal, not even a final. in Rifle Indian shooter won medal in each event while in Pistol event India miss final of just one event (25m Rapid Fire Pistol)
