India’s men’s doubles pair’s dream run continues as they caused another upset at this BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament after defeating World no.19 pair in straight sets.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the last eight after beating Chinese Taipei’s Liao Min Chun and Su Ching Heng 21-17, 21-16 in 32 minutes.
On Wednesday they pulled off a stunning 21-15, 21-17 win over the eighth seeds and World No. 10 duo of Takuto Inoue and Yuki Kaneko of Japan in a first round match that lasted just 35 minutes.
In Quarter-Finals, they will be up against 5th seeded Danmark pair of Mads CONRAD-PETERSEN and Mads Pieler KOLDING & it would be interesting to see if their giant-killing run will continue or not.
PV Sindhu & Saina set up “All-Indian QF”
PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal set up what promises to be a blockbuster quarter-final clash at the Indonesia Masters by winning their respective second-round matches on Thursday.
World No 10 Nehwal needed only 37 minutes to get past China’s Chen Xiaoxin 21-12, 21-18, while the third ranked Sindhu got through her match even quicker, beating Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei 21-12, 21-9 in just 31 minutes.
The two Indians have faced each other only twice before on the international circuit, winning one match apiece. Their last meeting was at the 2017 India Open, where Sindhu prevailed in straight games. Nehwal, however, beat Sindhu during last year’s senior national championship in November.
