Rafael Nadal confirmed to play Acapulco Open in 2018, Roger Federer likely to play too Nadal confirmed to play Acapulco Open in 2018, Roger Federer likely to play too

Rafael Nadal will be the main star of the 25th edition of the Acapulco Open that will be played from 26th February to 3rd March 2018.

It will be the Spaniard’s second appearance in a row as this year he lost to Sam Querrey in the final. However, organisers are in talk with Roger Federer too & are willing to make him play in Acapulo Open.

At this point, Nadal won’t play in the South-American clay-court swing, unlike he did from 2014 to 2016 when he always played Rio de Janeiro. ‘I don’t have any knee injury anymore, so I am not forced to play on clay,‘ Nadal had said a few months ago. ‘Also, the heat is extreme in South America.’ It was Alejandro Burillo, Pegaso Group Executive Chief who announced the news.

‘Rafa already accepted, and it cannot be anything but good. Now we are trying to bring (Roger) Federer because we want to have the best year ever in the tournament history. It’s not easy with Federer because he has several commitments, but we are following him close.

We hope to have (Novak) Djokovic and other players as well. In terms of money, it won’t be an ideal situation as we will have to pay many players,‘ Burillo admitted. Seeing Federer in Acapulco, at least if the calendar remains this way, will be impossible as he has a life-time contract with Dubai that is played in the same week.
