Ramkumar Ramanthan stuns another Higher Ranked Player, just one win away from main draw of Cincinnati masters

World no. 182 Ramkumar Ramanathan continues to shock the tennis world by defeating yet another higher ranked player (68) in the qualifiers of Cincinnati masters.

Indian tennis ace demolished the challenge of Serbian 4th seed & World no. 68 D. Lajović in straight sets by 7-6, 6-4 and is now just one win away from making his presence in the main draw of Cincinnati masters.

Ramkumar was quick to break the serve of Lajovic & took a impressive lead of 5-2, but Serbian came back stronger by breaking the Indian serve to make the things level at 5-5. Both players held their serves after that but it was Indian who held his nerves in the decider to get a set up by 7-6.

In the second set, Ramkumar continued his impressive work & again break the serve of Lajovic initially to conquer the match in straight sets by 7-6, 6-4.

Indian is just one win away from the main draw & will be challenged by 14th seed M. Marterer of Germany. The match is scheduled to be play today at 10:30 p.m (IST).

The 22-year-old Ramkumar was in headlines last month after making the quarterfinals as a qualifier in the Antalya Open ATP Tour event beating world No.8 Dominic Thiem of Austria in his way.
