In September, reports suggested Manchester City’s David Silva could be tempted by a move to AC Milan despite City being keen to extend his contract.
Now it seems Silva could have other options to consider, with the Sun reporting that both Liverpool and Milan’s rivals Inter “are plotting a sensational swoop as contract talks with City continue.”
The 31-year-old, whose current deal expires in 2019, remains a key part of Pep Guardiola’s plans, with officials at the Etihad Stadium keen to tie him to a 12-month extension.
But the Sun says they may have their work cut out, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp “a big admirer” of Silva and Inter looking to add to their creative options.
Silva, who moved to City from Valencia in 2010, has also been linked with Fenerbahce in recent weeks.
Silva is one of City’s most successful players of all-time and the 31-year-old is attempting to win his third Premier League title this season under Pep Guardiola. The midfielder has made 11 appearances for City this season as Guardiola’s men sit top of the table, eight points ahead of second-placed Manchester United.
It’s claimed Reds boss Jurgen Klopp views the Spain international as a potential alternative to Adam Lallana at Anfield. Liverpool are also concerned for Emre Can’s future on Merseyside, with Juventus continuing to express a strong interest in the German.
