Roger Federer is seeded three and back in New York after missing the tournament a year ago through injury .This season he is in top form as , already have won 2 grand-slam . But last week injury could play a huge factor in upcoming Big event . He is placed in Nadal half , will start with Frances Tiafoe in Round 1 . so we can have Nadal vs Federer in SF
Andy Murray has been seeded second for the US Open as Rafael Nadal and Karolina Pliskova headline the final major of the year. Roger Federer would be the third seed.
The Scot has been spending weeks recovering from the hip problem that ruined his Wimbledon chances.
Murray pulled out of the Masters events in Montreal and Cincinnati and lost his world No 1 ranking to Nadal, but has travelled to New York and the signs appear positive.
The men’s tour is currently beset with injuries to high-profile players with last year’s winner Stan Wawrinka, two-time champion Novak Djokovic, 2014 runner-up Kei Nishikori and Milos Raonic all missing.
Andy, Rafael & Roger will be fighting for more than just US Open glory when the trio arrive in New York for the final grand slam of 2017.
All three could feasibly end the fortnight at Flushing Meadows as world number one, a position currently occupied by Nadal following Federer and Murray recent injury withdrawals.
As the top seeds, two-time former champion Nadal and last year’s finalist Pliskova will be placed at the opposite end of the draw to Murray and Simona Halep and cannot meet their closest rivals before the final.
Highly-rated Alexander Zverev is fourth seed.
Pliskova is the top seed at a major for the first time after claiming the No 1 spot at Wimbledon. The Czech is the fourth different women’s top seed at Flushing Meadows in the past eight years with British No 1 and Wimbledon semi-finalist Konta seeded seventh.
