Federer becomes the only second man in Open Era to reach multiple Australian Open Finals past the age of 35.

Also, after beating he surpass Djokovic’s record and hold the new record for most Australian Open singles finals in the Open Era with 7.

Hyeon Chung, contesting in only his 100th tour level match tonight never came closer to challenge the superiority of Roger Federer.

14 years, 284 days, this was the difference between the age the two players, which was the third largest age difference in a men’s singles Grand Slam semifinal in the Open Era.

Federer got off to a roaring start Chung sprayed error after error, in no time Chung was down a double break & Federer took the first set without breaking much sweat by 6-1.

Second set was no different story as Chung had no answers to Federer’s class shots & unfortunately he had to retire from the match with a blister complaint when he was trailing 2-5 in the second.

After the match, 19-time Grand Slam Champion had some nice words for his opponent, “Clearly I’m happy to be in the final but not like this. He’s had such a wonderful tournament.”

Federer, ranked number two in the world will now take on Marin Cilic for the Australian Open Grand Slam Title.

If the Swiss master won this Grand Slam title by beating Cilic in the final then he will become one of four players in history to win 20 or more Grand Slams, joining Margaret Court, Steffi Graf and Serena Williams.

This is how twitter reacted to Roger Federer’s super-class :
