Karate players have done exceptionally well to scoop 11 medals in US Open Karate Championship 2017 including 3 Golds, 2 Silvers & 6 Bronze.
2374 participants from 42 countries took part in the prestigious tournament for Karate.
The Indian team, led by Sensei Yashpal Singh Kalsi, a world-renowned martial artist from Gurugram won the Bronze medal this time continuing his good form from 2016 Championship where he bagged Gold .
The team was selected and approved by Karate Association of India, which is the only, recognized national Karate body, General Secretary of the association, Bharat Sharma had wished the team good luck for the Championship.
Excited by this performance Sensei Yashpal Singh Kalsi said, “I am extremely proud of Indian team, it’s a fantastic feeling to win medal for our country, I am sure this will inspire more people back in India”.
Karate is included in 2020 Olympics & this performance will come as a boost for the Olympics preparation ! karate, no doubt can be a medal prospective sport for India.
