100th Test proved lucky for brave Bangladesh

Bangladesh wouldn’t have asked for more as their dream of winning a test match on the foreign soil got fulfilled when they defeat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets at the P Sara Oval in Colombo.

Visitors did all the right things to make their 100th test memorable and to prove they have reached the next level in cricket and can challenge any cricketing nation as they prove too strong for the mighty Sri Lankans to draw the series by 1-1.

100th Test proved lucky for brave Bangladesh

A target of 191 runs in the fourth innings of the match proved to be a tough road for Bangladesh but a hard fought innings of 82 runs by Tamim Iqbal puts the visitors in the winning position .

There were plenty of nervy moments though, especially after Shakib Al Hasan was dismissed with 29 runs still required in the 191-run chase. After that , umpire S Ravi adjudged Mushfiqur Rahim lbw, but eventually it was overturned with the help of a review. In the next over, Rangana Herath could not hold on to a rather tough return catch offered by Mosaddek Hossain.

Mosaddek continued to attack, hitting the next ball over cover for four. Two more boundaries took Bangladesh within six runs of their target. But the debutant fell before the win could be achieved.

Birthday boy Herath tried his all best to restrict Bangladesh and snatch the victory from their hands, but Bangladesh had the last laugh and their first victory on the tour .

It was Bangladesh’s first test victory over Sri Lanka and it couldn’t have come in a much better way as 100th Test match of Bangladesh will be written in Golden words.
