10 Most unusual records held by teams and players

6.Mahela Jayawardena – Only batsman to score centuries in World Cup semi final and final matches

Mahela Jayawardena is the only player to have scored centuries in both the semi-final and final match of a World Cup, although the two came in two different World Cups. He had scored a century in a semi-final match in the World Cup of 2007 and then a century in a final match in the World Cup of 2011.

Sri Lanka had won the semi-final of World Cup 2007 due to Mahela Jayawardena’s century. His innings in the final of World Cup 2011 was outperformed by India’s batsmen Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni, and due to this Sri Lanka had lost that final. Mahela Jayawardena had scored 12650 runs in 448 ODI matches for Sri Lanka.

7.James Anderson – most run Conceded in an over in Tests

James ‘Jimmy’ Anderson is one of the best modern day swing bowlers. Anderson spearheads the English bowling attack and is known for his impeccable line and length.

He is tough to hit under swinging conditions. Definitely, his name would not come into our mind when we think about a bowler who has conceded the most runs in an over. But, that’s the nature of the game, James Anderson happens to be the bowler who holds this unlikely record.

During the Ashes, Jimmy was smashed for 28 runs by George Bailey in the last over of the Australian innings. The attack was of brute nature as Bailey whacked 4, 6, 2, 4, 6, 6.
