Year 2017 continues to bring laurels to Star Indian Fencer Bhavani Devi as she now becomes World no. 36 in the latest rankings updated by FIE.

Indian fencer who came into news after clinching Gold in the Turnoi Satellite Fencing Championship at Reykjavik (Iceland), gave a splendid performance at Asian Fencing Championship & just missed out of the medal after getting ousted by 2012 Olympic Champion & 6 Times Asian Champion KIM Jiyeon of Korea in the quarter-finals.

Devi also participated at World Fencing Championship where she finished at 59th place after giving incredible fight to World no. 6 Berder Cecillia of France by a virtue of 14-15 points.

The ranking of World no.36 is not so good according to international standards but after looking at the condition of sport in India, where most of the people don’t know if “Fencing is a sport or not”, Bhavani Devi achievements are just incredible & worth salute of every Indian.

No, doubt her hard work & dedication towards sport is paying off, she has given thrilling performances in the year 2017 by scaring the likes of Olympic Champion & World Top fencers.

But to make “Fencing” popular in India, she has to do a miracle & looking at her form she is capable to do that, let’s see if her “Fairy Tale of 2017” continues in the future tournaments too.
