Anshu Malik And Sonam Qualify for Olympiics

Anshu Against Japnese wrestler at World Cadet Championship

Anshu malik( Women 57kg) and Sonam(62kg) all three qualify for Olympic by reaching Final of Asian Wrestling Qualifications Tournament.

Anshu Malik was totally on fire today she won all three matches one sided by technical Superiority. Firstly she beat Jieun UM of  Korea by 10-0 in Qualifications followed by another 10-0 against Emma TISSINA (KAZ) . Later in Semifinals She beat Shokhida AKHMEDOVA (UZB)  by 12-2 and confirm place to Tokyo.

Nextup for India in quota match Was another Malik, Sonam who in her Semi-Final beat Ayaulym KASSYMOVA (KAZ) despite trailing by 0-6 manage to win it by 9-6. In starting 20 sec Ayaulym take 6-0 lead by a strong take down that make Sonam injured. Even with injured leg, She fight strongly and make it to Tokyo Olympics.

With this India has now confirm 64 Quota over 10 sports.  Today's quota take wrestling number to 6, with 3 each in Men and women Freestyle. India is still to earn quota in Greco-Roman catagory. India failed to qualify in all catagory in Greco-Roman on Friday.

Nisha Kadian in 68kg, lost to Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan in quota bout by 3-13. Nisha started the bout on positive note and take 3-0 lead but after that Meerim outsmarted the Indian with her 'fitley' (leg lace) attack. Seema Bisla lost all her three bouts to go out of race in 50kg.

Anshu, 19, and Sonam, 18, making a steady transition from the junior to the senior circuit, joined senior pro Vinesh Phogat (53kg) in making the Olympics cut. Among men, Bajrang Punia (65kg), Ravi Dahiya (57kg) and Deepak Punia (86kg) have qualified in the men's free style event.

Sonam has now shut the door on Rio Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik. Sonam had defeated Sakshi four times in recent trials, making the 62kg category her own.
