Apurvi, Anjum Confirm Fisrt two 2020 Olympics Places for India

India’s Anjum Moudgil won silver in the women’s 10m air rifle event at the ongoing ISSF Shooting World Championships in Changwon, South Korea. She shot a combined total of 248.4 to finish in the second position.

Compatriot Apurvi Chandela, the other Indian in the fray, finished fourth with 207 points.

With this, Moudgil and Chandela further became the first and Second Indian shooters to win a quota for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The top four contenders in the senior events are given a berth at the Olympics at the World Championships.

Earlier Anjum Moudgil and Apurvi Chandela both qualify for 10m rifle final at ISSF world championship with a brilliant score of 628.7 and 627.5 3rd Indian Young Mehuli Ghosh(622.8) misses out final as She finishes 44th.

Indian Team OF Apurvi, Mehuli and Anjum win Silver with 1879 points in 10m Rifle team event. Their Score was more then-current world record (Korea shoot more score than India so new WR to them).

Anjum, who had won a silver at the ISSF shooting World Cup in Mexico last month, had also won a silver medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions event at the Commonwealth Games -set a qualification record, shooting a 589 to finish first – held earlier this year.

The 24-year-old is an inspector in the Punjab Police and is coached by former Olympian Deepali Deshpande. Her mother was a university-level shooter and was introduced to the sport by her.

Apurvi Chandela Who recently won Mix Team Bronze at Asian Games also Book her Place to Rio Olympics As she finishes 4th. And Total of four Quota places was up to Grab Here. And India and Korea Share 2 of each.
