16 year-old Divya Dhayal did wonders to Indian campaign after grabbing 2 Golds & 1 Silver in the ongoing Asia Archery Cup, Chinese Taipei on Saturday.
India now have 4 medals ( 2 Gold, Silver & Bronze) with 3 Bronze medal matches still to play on Sunday.
Teenager Divya showed brilliant archery & hold her nerve to bag Gold in Women's Individual event & also fetch the top position in Mixed Compound along with Mayank Rawat.
However, Indian Women Compound Team failed to overcome the challenge of no.1 seed Chinese Taipei & lost their respective match to settle for Silver medal.
Indian Men Compound Team knocked out Thailand's team to grab India's fourth medal (Bronze).
Women's Compound Individual
Indian sensation Divya Dhayal overcame the challenge of 10th seed Iranian Ghorbani in an intense match by 143-142 to grab the Gold around her neck.
Divya was trailing in the first set by 27-28 but bounced back strongly to score 29 in the second & take the lead. The scores were again levelled by the end of the fourth set by 113-113 but the Indian scored brilliant 30 out of 30 in the last set to take the first position & become the Asian Champion.
Mixed Compound Team
Indian mixed team comprises of Divya Dhayal & Mayank Rawat had no problem in defeating the Thailand's pair by 151-147. Indian duo get into the lead from the first set by 37-34 & keep the momentum high till the end to win India's second Gold in the Asia Cup.
Women's Compound Team
Women's Team failed to overcome the tough challenge from No.1 seed Chinese Taipei & lose the match by 225-228 to settle for Silver. Indian team comprises of Divya Dhyal, Megha Agarwal & Purvasha Shende didn't get the momentum & were trailing from the starting to the end.
India will have 3 Bronze-medal matches tomorrow & archers will look to fetch more medals !
