Indian athletes continue to show their brilliant form & in the process India have made a new record by surpassing their biggest medal haul they achieved in Asian Championship at Jakarta, 1985 & New Delhi 1989.
The previous biggest medal haul for India was of 22 medals they achieved twice in Jakarta (1985) & New Delhi (1989).
Jakarta Asian Championship (1985) – 22 medals (10 Gold, 5 Silvers & 7 Bronze) , Finished 2nd !
New Delhi Asian Championship (1989) – 22 medals (8 Gold, 9 Silvers & 5 Bronze) , Finished 2nd !
India has already surpass the medal tally & got 24 medals (9 Golds, 4 Silvers & 11 Bronze) with still many events to go ! Surely, India will be looking to fetch more medals out of it, thanks to the massive performance of Indian athletes.
Moreover India has a strong chance of finishing 1st in medal tally for the first time in history, since India is leading China with a good gap in medals.

In a major surprise Archana Ashav went pass Defending Champion Tintu Luka to win the Women’s 800m & also grab a spot in the World Athletics Championship to be held in London this August.
Tintu Luka did not finished the race & the official reason is still not out !
Swapna Barman participating in Women’s heptathlon gave a thunderous performance in Heptathlon by bagging second Gold of the day for India with 5942 points overall while another Indian Purnima clinched the bronze with 5798 points.
India got another Bronze in Men’s 800m when Jinson Johnson finished the race with the timing of 1:50:07 ! Gold went to kuwait with 1:49:47, followed by Qatar.
It was a disappointing result for India in Women’s 800m as Dutee Chand & Srabani Nanda fails to win medal for India finishing 4th & 5th respectively.
Amiya kumar Mallick who qualified for the finals as a fastest looser couldn’t make a big mark & finished 7th overall.
