Avinash Sable Qualify for 2020 Olympics, Create yet another National record

3000m Steeplechaser Avinash Sable breaks yet another NR to also qualify for the next year’s Tokyo Olympics. He finishes 13 out of 16 men in the final of the World Championships 2019.

Avinash clocked 8.21.37 seconds to breach the Olympics qualifying standard of 8:22.00. He also bettered his own national record of 8:25.23 which he clocked on Tuesday during the first round heats.

Avinash was 10th in heats but later got included in final.He recovers quickly after falling twice in first lap of race.Athletics Federation of India successfully protested that he was obstructed by other athletes during the heat race.

Under Rule 163.2 (Obstruction) The Referee, after examining the video of the race,Panel agreed that Avinash SABLE had been significantly obstructed on two occasions.The Indian Protest was accepted by Panel and Avinash SABLE advanced to the Final.

This is the 4th time in the last one year he’s broken the NR established by Gopal Saini in 1981.

Firstly he did 8.29.80 at Open Nationals 2018
Then 8:28.94 at Fed Cup in March to 8:25.33 in heats of World Athletics Championship. Now 8:21.37 in the finals. He has cut off 27.88 from last year from his timing which is exceptionally brilliant.

But he was 20 sec behind Gold medlist Conseslus Kipruto of Kenya who defend his 2017 Gold medal with time of 8.01.35.

Sable on Saturday book 20th Olympic breath for India and 3rd in Athletics. India mix team has already beg quota for Olympic in this world championship after they qualify for final.

Best Indian performance at world Championship

India are performing really well in this year world championship as we have already made couple of National Record with Javelins throw and Relay yet to come.

In 2017 only Devinder Singh Kang made it to final but we have 3 finalist already with Sable made NR , Annu finishes 8th and mix relay make Season Best with 7th place finish.

Second event of day 20km walk,Irfan and devinder finishes 27 and 36 respectively in 54 race walker field.Irfan Kolothum Thodi has already book 2020 Olympic quota at Asian Race walking championship.

On Saturday Shivpal Singh will compete in Men Javelin Qualifications. Shivpal who has thrown Personal best throw of 86.23 in same ground in Asian Championship 2019.

Shivpal won Silver behind National record holder Neeraj Chopra who misses out world championship due to injury.

Indian women and men 4*400m relay team will also be in action on Saturday night as they will also target 2020 Olympic Qualification.Top 8 finalist will be awarded Tokyo Olympic Quota. Relay event start at 10.35Am (IST).

Men team are lined up with JAMAICA , France TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO and Belgium. India are only ahead of CZECH REPUBLIC in turns of Personal best in the heat.

In women heat India also have Jamaica in heat along with Poland ,Canada and France .India have only ahead of Nederland if we compare Personal best of the team of heat.
