Indian boxers Amit Panghal, Gaurav Solanki and Manish Kaushik have entered the gold medal bout in their respective categories of boxing at Commonwealth Games 2018, Australia.

Manish, competing in the lightweight 60kg category, sneak through the experienced boxer Northern Ireland’s James McGivern in a thrilling fight by split decision of 4-1 to enter the finals.

The 22-year-old, who claimed a gold medal at the Asian Games test event, pulled off a great bout but James McGivern not looked happy with the judges’ decision and issued a strong statement, “The bronze medal can stay in Australia, I don’t do bronze medals,”.

Gaurav Solanki also won his respective bout against Sri Lanka’s M Ishan Bandara in men’s flyweight 52kg category to ensure him atleast a silver medal.

After a poor start from the Indian which included being at the receiving end of two eight counts in the first round itself, he composed himself and came back strongly in the next two rounds to notch up a brilliant fight.

He will be up against Northern Ireland’s Brendan Irvine for the gold medal bout.

Amit, became the third Indian male boxer to enter the finals after defeating Uganda’s Juma Miiro in a dominative manner in light flyweight 49kg semifinal.
