The Basketball Federation of India announced squad for both men and women team for the Commonwealth Games 2018 scheduled to take place from 4th April to 15th April 2018, Gold Coast, Australia.

Shireen Limaye was announced as captain of the Women’s Team and the team is placed in Group B alongside Jamica ,Malaysia and New Zealand.

Both Men’s and Women Basketball Teams will depart for Australia in preparation for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games XXI on Monday.

The Men’s Team is similar to the team selected for the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers Window 2 and the team will miss the experience of players like Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, Talwinderjit Singh, Garry Gill etc with federation trying to experiment with new faces on the global stage.

Recent performance of Indian Men’s Team in FIBA World Cup qualifiers was below-par and federation made big mistake by not including Amjyot Singh and Amritpal Singh into the list of the 24 Members, point guard Akilan Pari will make a comeback to the team.
