Indian athletes managed to win 2 medals (Gold and a bronze) on Day 6 of Commonwealth Games 2018 to maintain their 3rd position on the medal tally after Australia and England.

India’s medal hunt slowed down a bit on Day 6 as weightlifting events, which fetch India 5 gold medals ended yesterday but wrestlers are yet to take the mat.

Heena Sidhu, the former World Champion, didn’t disappoint at all to win India’s first gold medal of the day and 11th overall in women’s 25m pistol event.

She became the first double medalist from India in CWG 2018 after scoring 38 points which was a new Games record too. But it was a heartbreak for another Indian in the competition, Annu Singh as she finished the finals on 7th position with the score of 15 points.

Another medal came through powerlifter, Sachin Chaudhary, who won the bronze medal by successfully lifting 181kg. Chaudhary, who was looking to turn the things around after serving a 2 years doping ban, stunned everyone with his medal winning performance.

Moreover, India won 5 unofficial medals today in boxing as five Indian boxers have assured themselves atleast a bronze after advancing to the semi-finals. . Manoj Kumar (69kg), Amit Panghal (49kg), Mohammed Hussamuddin (56kg), Naman Tanwar (91kg) and Satish Kumar (+91kg) all clinched wins and joined Mary Kom in ensuring a medal for the country from boxing.
