#5 Upal Tharanga
Srilanka’s opening batsmen has made his mark after comeback & cemented his place in Sri Lanka’s ODI set up this year. He also lead his team for the tri-series in Zimbabwe when the regular skipper Angelo Mathews was ruled out of the 2017 series against South Africa.

It would be interesting to see if he will carry his momentum in 2018.
#4 Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock has been one of the finest batsmen South Africa has ever produced. He is not just an excellent batsman but is equally good behind the wickets.
His conversion rate tells the whole story of his talent as out of the 28 times he has passed fifty, he has gone on to make a century thirteen times.
He scored 956 runs in 2017 in only 19 matches, with a terrific strike rate of 94.84. His best performance of the year came in the ODI series against Bangladesh, where he scored an unbeaten 168, in an unbroken opening partnership of 282 runs with Hashim Amla. This was the highest ODI stand for South Africa and also the highest ever partnership in One-Day Internationals without the loss of a wicket.
#3 Joe Root
England’s trusted middle order batsmen Joe Root is part of the so-called “Fab Four” which also includes Virat Kohli, Steven Smith and Kane Williamson – four of the finest batsmen of the modern era. However, only two of them makes the cut in Highest run scorers in ODIs in 2017 and Root is one of them.
The consistent Englishman has scored 983 runs with an incredible average of 70.21, combined of seven half-centuries and two centuries. His contributions to the team has helped England to enjoy a creditable run in limited-overs internationals since their 2015 World Cup.
#2 Rohit Sharma
The only batsmen in this planet to score three double hundreds, the RO-HIT-man is in the list at second number, MS Dhon’s masterstroke of asking Rohit to open the innings has done wonders to the team. He enjoys to build the innings slowly & gradually convert it into the big numbers.
2017 was special for this Indian. He hammered 1286 runs at an incredible average of 75.64 and a strike rate of 100. What’s more impressive is his conversion rate – he has six hundreds and five fifties in this period. This stat will prove his masterclass in ODIs – there have been seven double hundreds in ODIs till now and three of them are by Rohit.
With one game still to go in the Sri Lanka series, Rohit is only 174 runs from the top spot. Well, another double hunderd on cards ? Fingers crossed !
#1 Virat Kohli
Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli leads the list of Highest run scorers in ODIs in 2017.
Tests, ODIs or T20s whatever the format, Kohli loves to score in any of the format & his stats tells the story. He is considered to be king especially while chasing. His records are so stunning in ODIs that perhaps he has already achieved the status of a legend.
He has 1460 runs to his name in this calendar year with six hundreds, five fifties and a highest score of 131. If he would have played the series against Sri Lanka, who knows how many more runs he would have scored. His average of 76.84 is the highest this year for all players with over 600 runs.
