Indian Dominance in Singles continues, three more shuttlers marches into Pre-Quarters at World Champ. Dominance in Singles continues, three more shuttlers marches into Pre-Quarters at World Champ.

India’s Saina Nehwal, kidambi Srikanth and B Sai Praneeth won in contrasting fashion to enter the third round of the Badminton World Championships in Glasgow on Wednesday.

Saina took just 33 minutes to complete a comfortable 21-11, 21-12 victory over Switzerland’s Sabrina Jaquet while Praneeth had to fight hard to beat Indonesia’s Anthony’s Sinisuka Ginting 14-21, 21-18, 21-19 in 72 minutes.

It was second victory for Saina, who received a bye in the opening round, over Sabrina since the Indian had beaten her rival at the 2012 London Olympics as well.

Saina had won a silver medal in the previous edition of the World Championship in Jakarta while Sabrine is a winner of a bronze medal at European Championships this year.

Saina is likely to take on second seed Sung Ji Hyun. The Indian has a 7-2 head-to-head record against the Korean and most recently beat her at the Australian Open in June.

Singapore Open champion B Sai Praneeth, who was playing on the adjacent court, survived a scare from 20-year-old Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, who is the 2014 Youth Olympic and World Junior Championships boys’ singles bronze medallist.

From 16-16 in the second game, Praneeth won five of the next seven points to force a decider.

In the deciding game, Praneeth won eight straight points to come back from 12-18 down to 20-18 before converting his second match point to seal a confidence-boosting victory.

Praneeth will next face the winner of the match between Germany’s Marc Zwiebler and Chinese Taipei’s Chen Tien Chou, while Saina will face either compatriot Tanvi Lad or second seed Sung Ji Hyun of South Korea.

Meanwhile, India’s top ranked Srikanth kidambi had a easy outing against Corvee of France & won the match comfortably in two straight sets by 21-9, 21-7 to book his spot in the quarterfinals.
