Indian Junior shooters are doing a great job at Junior Shooting World Championship, as on day two India bag 2 medals including a Gold.

India’s 20-year-old Yashaswini Singh Deswal kept the focus on her shooting, eventually climbing atop the table midway through the match and building herself a comfortable lead, then finishing with the Equalled Junior World Record of 235.9 points and the Gold medal round her neck.

Other Indians Sweta and Mahima finished 85th (361) & 89th (359).

This is the fourth consecutive year for Suhl as the host of the Junior International Shooting Sport competition, having previously hosted the ISSF Junior Cup in 2014 and 2015, and the ISSF Junior World Cup in 2016. In 2016, the city in Thuringia welcomed the ISSF World Championship Running Target competition.

ISSF Junior World Championship Rifle/Pistol is the first competition of the year for Junior shooters & has seen about 500 shooters participate from 65 different countries, collecting almost 1000 starts.

India have sent out a 31-strong contingent for the event. India had lot of expectations from shooter Subhankar Pramanic to bag a medal on the first day as he had previously won a gold in the last Junior World Cup held in Gabala in the 50m Rifle Prone.

It’s India’s 2nd Gold medal at the ISSF Junior World Championship Rifle/Pistol in Suhl, as Anish Anish previously won the title in the men’s 25m Standard Pistol Junior event.
