Indian Premier League 2020 is about to reach the play-offs stage but the tension continues between four teams as they are still fighting out for three spots despite only two matches left to be played.
Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals were the two teams getting eliminated on Sunday from the race of playoffs following their defeats against the Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively.
The 60-run-defeat of Rajasthan Royals not only pushed them to the bottom of points table but also gave Kolkata Knight Riders a better fourth position in Dream11 IPL T20. Eoin Morgan’s unbeaten 35-ball 68 powered KKR to 191/7 but RR after a promising start of 18 runs in the first four balls made a mess of the chase and went down without giving a tough fight.
After the end of the 54th match in the league phase, the net run-rate of Kolkata reads -0.214 but they are still slightly behind the Royal Challengers Bangalore (-0.145) and Delhi Capitals (-0.159) who are currently placed at No.2 and No.3 respectively.
Sunrisers Hyderabad with the run-rate of +0.555 has a good chance of getting into playoffs now if they are able to defeat the mighty table-toppers Mumbai Indians in the last league match of Indian Premier League T20, Dubai.
Possible scenarios for KKR to qualify for playoffs of IPL T20 -
- RCB lose by more than 22 runs or with more than 18 balls to spare.
- Delhi Daredevils lose by more than 20 runs or with more than 15 balls to spare.
