On opening day of National trail Jitender Yadav (74kg),Satyawart Kadiyan (97kg), Sumit Malik (125kg)make it to Olympic Qualifier in Freestyle.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) had earlier announced that winner of the Friday’s trials will compete at the Ranking series event in Italy (January 15-18), Asian Championships in New Delhi (February 18-23) and the Asian Olympic qualifiers in Xian (March 27-29)
Deepak Punia (86kg) and Ravi Dahiya(57kg) who had already won Olympic Quota also won easily to make it to team.65kg category in which Bajrang Punia participates and has qualified for the Tokyo 2020 has been exempted from the trials.
Jitender Yadav emerge winner in 74kg Freestyle which was Group of Death. In absence of Two time olympic medlist Sushil Kumar, Jitender Yadav beat Amit Dhankar by 5-2 in the final. Sushil, who has been struggling to revive his career, has pulled out of Friday's trials citing a hand injury and had requested trials in his category to be postponed.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) decided to go ahead with the trials in the men's freestyle 74kg category. However, Sushil may get a chance to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics in March.
74 kg feature Gaurav Baliyan Current National Champion in 74kg, Praveen Rana National Runners up in 74kg, Jitender who was National Runners up in 79kg & Member of Indian team for the 2019 World Championships,79kg National Champion Sandeep Maan, 70kg National Champion Naveen, 70kg Runner up Vishal, Amit Dhankar and U23 world Medlist Vinod Kumar.

Gaurav Baliyan who won national championship in style was expected to qualify from the category. He won the first bout against Arjun Yadav of Railways but In a battle of fluctuating fortunes,Amit Dhankar prevailed to oust Baliyan 7-6 in the semi-finals.
In another bout of National trail, Jitender Yadav who move down from 79kg, took revenge of National Championship from Sandeep Mann as he defeated the Punjab lad by 3-2 to make it the semi-finals where he got better of U23 World medallist Vinod Kumar of Railways.
Dhankar was the last hurdle Jitendar had to overcome to qualify for the Indian team.And Jitendar won the finals by 5-2 to book his place in the Indian team for the ranking series event in Rome and the Asian Championships.
World number one Deepak Punia and Ravi Dahiya world championship medlist have got bye to Final directly. In final also they won easily. Ravi beat Pankaj of Services by 10-0 comfortable. While Deepak beat Pawan Saroha (Railways) by 6-2.
In 97Kg Satyawart Kadian of Railways beat Mausam Khatri of Haryana by 12-2 and took revenge of World Championship trail loss.While Sumit Malik of Railways beat Satendar of Services by 9-0.
National Trail - Greco-Roman
Gurpreet Singh of Punjab beats Sajan of Railway by 10-3 to qualify for Olympic Qualifier in 77kg. In 60kg Service's man Gyanendar was in complete form he won his three match without giving away a single point. In final he beat Sachin Rana of Delhi by 2-0.
In 67kg Ashu of Haryana beat Saurabh of Jharkhand by 7-2 in final. Earlier Ashu knocked out 67kg Favourite Ravinder of Railway by 6-3bin Semifinal.
87kg also come up with upset as Sunil end with winner and qualify for Olympic. He beat Harpreet in Semifinal by 4-0. In final He beat Ravinder Khatri of Services by 4-1.
Hardeep of Railway and Naveen of Services make it to olympic Qualifier in 97kg and 130kg.
Women trail will held on Saturday. Olympic Qualifier is schedule from March 27–29, 2020
