According to reports, Manchester City is all set to make a move for Valencia defender Joao Cancelo, this summer.Top Calcio reported City have made a bid worth roughly €45m for the Portuguese defender.
Cancelo arrived at Valencia on a permanent deal in 2015 for a fee in the region of £13.5 million and the promising young right back has impressed everyone but it remains to be seen if the Serie A club will take up an option to make his temporary spell permanent in the coming weeks.
The Portuguese youngster has made 91 appearances for the current club Valencia and he wants to remain in Italy but would make a move to Etihad Stadium if given a chance. He played a total of 26 league games for the Italians, scoring one and assisting four in those 26 games.
There are also rumors going on that the clubs like Juventus and Wolves have grown interest in Cancelo and it will be interesting to see who seals the deal in future.
Cancelo had a huge role in Inter Milan’s defence throughout the season and the club’s impressive record of conceding just 30 goals in 38 league games last season tells the whole story.
The Valencia defender has also shown how versatile he can be and can play in different positions. Throughout his senior career, Joao has played right back, which is his natural position, right midfield, right wing and left back.
So, no doubt it will be a great deal for Man City as they will be getting a talented defender who can play multiple positions and get forward well.
