Manu Bhaker clinched a gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol event of Asian Shooting Championships. Bhaker, who had already sealed the Olympic quota, finished ahead of Asian gold medallist Wang Qian of China, who came second and world champion Jiang Ranxin who finish with bronze medal.
This is India’s 1st gold medal at the competition in Qatar. Overall India won 3 medals on opening day of the tournament, one medal of each colour along with Deepak Kumar Olympics Quota. Yashaswini DESWAL Singh finishes respectable 6th place in the final. India already has 2 quotas in the event.
The fact that India has topped the medals tally in all the four World Cups this season in rifle and pistol, in Delhi, Beijing, Munich and Rio is ample testimony to the prowess of the young guns, and the healthy progress the team has made from the last Olympics in Rio, when it drew a blank.
Earlier Manu Bhaker & Yashaswini Singh Deswal enter Final of 10m Air Pistol event of Asian Shooting Championships; finished 1st & 4th respectively securing 584 & 578 points.
In other events of the day, Elavaneil Valarivan finishes 5th in Final of 10m Air Rifle event of Asian Shooting Championships securing 187.1 points.Quota winner Anjum & Apurvi finished 9th & 12th respectively. Women's Air Rifle takes the Team Silver medal.
Deepak Kumar has earlier won bronze medal in 10m Air Rifle. along with bronze, he won 10th Olympic Quota for India in Shooting.
India Yet to won Quota in Shotgun Event But good news is Shreyasi SINGH is on strong position to qualify for the final of women Trap shooting event. After 3rd round, Shreyasi SINGH scored 70 points and placed on 5th position. Still, 2 more rounds are yet to play tomorrow before final.

More good news is in men Trap event where Kynan Chenai, Manavjit Singh SANDHU, and Prithviraj TONDAIMAN, is still on the hunt to qualify. Kynan CHENAI (3rd), Manavjit Singh SANDHU (5th), and Prithviraj TONDAIMAN (8th) scored 73,71,71 points respectably after 3rd round.
