Brazilian side Santos has shown interest to make a move for Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira in January 2019.
With a lack of opportunities in first team this season, Pereira is also pushing for a transfer away from Old Trafford. In addition to that, Santos has confirmed that the player is also keen on making the move.
The 22-year-old Brazilian is a product of Man Utd’s academy having joined the club from PSV Eindhoven in 2012 at the age of just 16.
Pereira has just made four appearances in all competitions since with just one of those from the start, against Valencia in the Champions League last week.
Also, he made just two Premier League starts in the 2018/2019 season before Jose Mourniho left the club on Tuesday morning but the talks are already in motion for a move back to his home country, according to Santos president Jose Carlos Peres.
Peres has also revealed that Pereira’s father is keen to establish his son a transfer back to Brazil.
“He is a player that interests us a lot,’ Peres told A Tribuna. ‘He is a santista and wants to play for Santos.
‘The family is trying. His father wants to see him at Santos for at least a year. ‘The problem is that Manchester are playing hard. We know the end of the contract is in the middle of the year, but we want the player now.
Pereira earned his first international cap against El Salvador in September, where Brazil outplayed them by 5-0 to grab the fantastic victory.
After the Valencia game, the Brazilian also pleaded for more opportunities at Manchester United, convinced he would “get better and better” with regular playing time.
The Brazilian Giants have opened talks to make a move for the midfielder, who is also wanted by West Ham United, according to reports Manchester United too have no intention of offering him an extension after completion of his contract at the end of the season.
