Thailand Open Badminton : Saina Nehwal & Sai Praneeth enters Semi-finals

Thailand Open Badminton : Saina Nehwal & Sai Praneeth enters Semi-finals

It was a perfect day for India in Thailand Open Grand Prix as two out of two single players storms into Semi-finals of the tournament after getting a win in their respective matches.

Singapore Open Champion & 3rd seeded Sai Praneeth had no such problems against World no.102 Thailand’s Kantaphon WANGCHAROEN as he wrap up the match in less than an hour to book his place into semis.

Sai won the match in two straight sets by  21-16, 21-17. He maintained his lead throughout the match & never gave his young opponent a chance to get back in the match.

The road to finals will be quite difficult for the Indian as he can possibly meet World no. 11 & No.1 seed Tanongsak of Thailand in the semis tomorrow.

In the women’s singles section Olympic medallist & no.2 seeded Saina Nehwal managed to get past her opponent from Japan Haruko SUZUKI in three setter match.

After loosing the first set by 15-21, World ranked 132 Haruko gave Saina a tough fight & bounced back quite well to take the 2nd set by 22-20 & level the game by 1-1 .

The match was stretched to the decider set but fortunately this time Saina gave her no chance & maintain her lead throughout the set to take the match by 21-15, 20-22, 21-11 & book her place into semis of the tournament.

Saina will now take on Thailand’s fourth seeded Busanan for a place in finals.

India’s campaign in all Doubles category has already comes to an end .
